Have you ever heard that people often claim that there aren't enough hours in the day? Is this really happen! Yes they're absolutely right.
The actual time taken by the planet to rotate on its axis is approximately 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds and this is known as sidereal day. The reason behind it that the solar day, the time it takes for the sun to return to the same spot on the meridian, varies as much as 16 minutes throughout the year, due to the position in its orbit.
